CAIRO SIGHTSEEING AND KEY ATTRACTIONS
Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx:
- Address: Pyramid Road, 18km (11 miles) southwest of central Cairo

One of the main attractions for any tourist visiting Egypt is the three pyramids of Giza which are considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world and now one of the wonders of the modern world too, built by the three kings Cheops, Cgephern and Mykeronis. The great Pyramid of Cheops is the oldest and largest on site. It is estimated that it is made of 2.5 million limestone blocks. The pyramids are an engineering miracle and constructed to serve as a tomb for the royal bodies of the kings that built it. Nearby the great pyramids some smaller pyramids are built for the queens. The Solar Boat museum near the pyramids worth of visiting. It contains a highly preserved wooden boat excavated in the area. Next to the valley temple of Chefern stands the great statue of The Sphinx witnessing the changes of the years as they pass by. The statue is believed to have a face resemblance of king Chefern and a body of a lion to resemble power and strength.
Sound and Light Show at Pyramids Plateau :
Egypt's first Sound and Light Show displayed at the Giza Pyramids was inaugurated in April of 1961. With the narrative voice of the late Richard Burton, magnificent sound and lighting effects, the show begins with the narrative of the Sphinx, who has been the guardian of the city of the dead for five thousand years. Overseeing the building of the three pyramids, the Sphinx reflects on the historical contributions of Thutmosis IV, Akhnaten, Nefertiti and Tutankhamon. The show is presented in English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Arabic, Italian and Russian .
Memphis :

Memphis is considered an open air museum located south of Giza. It is considered the first capital of ancient Egypt after the unification of upper and lower Egypt. Its name evolved from Min Nefer to Memphis by the Greeks. Memphis exhibits a huge colossus of Ramsis II made of limestone, a giant Alabaster Sphinx which stood at the temple of God Pitah.
Sakkara :
Sakkara one of the virgin archeological sites and despite the fact that a lot is discovered still remains many sites unexcavated. Sakkara and Dahshur are associated with Memphis they used to be necropolis of Memphis. Sakkara is dominated with the step Pyramid of Zoser one of the oldest stone structures in the world and an evolution from the single Mastaba tombs to the later smooth sided pyramids. The Pyramid of Unas famous for its burial chamber, where its walls are covered with what is known as the "Pyramid Text", the first collection of religious texts drawn up during the Old Kingdom and destined to protect and guide the dead pharaoh during his journey in the "other world". Sakkara is well known for the mastaba-type tombs of the ancient Egyptian nobles. The tomb walls bear inscriptions showing scenes of daily life in ancient Egypt, such as: farming, animal breeding, hunting, as well as religious rites and offerings to the owners of the mastabas and to the gods. Proceeding further south lies the Dahshur with the red pyramid of Sneferu and the Bent pyramid.
