Egypt population is about 78 million in 2006. most of the population are Sunni Muslims and about 7-10 million are Coptic Christians. Whatever the faith of the Egyptian they are moderately religious and religious principles are apparent in their every day lives.

In Egypt family ties are strong and the family head is responsible for the behavior of other members, he is the one that is always consulted for all family affairs. The strong family ties make the Egyptian population a cohesive society. This is mostly apparent in the villages. Egyptians are well known for their hospitable and friendly attitude towards strangers, this makes Egypt a favorable tourist destinations.

Egyptian population is mainly divided into 4 cultural groups the Copts who are the native inhabitants of Egypt, the Bedouins who are Arabs or nomads of the desert, the fellahin who are the rural peasants who occupy the Nile Delta and valley, the Nubians dark skinned populations who inhabit the small Nile valley south of Aswan. A visitor to Egypt can witness difference in dialect among different regions in Egypt. The Dialect used in metropolitan Cairo is different from those used in villages and those used in the South. Street dialect is different from the official language used in the newspapers and literature.
