Highlights: A full day excursion to Fayoum one of the oldest cities in Egypt.
Fayoum is located 105 KM from Cairo. The center of the city is on the canal called Bahr Yussef, with the four waterwheels, that are adopted by the governorate of Fayoum as its national Symbol. After a morning pick-up, you will be driven with a guide by private air-conditioned van toward Fayoum, situated 65 miles (105 kilometers) southwest of Cairo. Upon arriving, visit Qaroon Lake, where you can see different kinds of birds. Qaroon Lake is considered the oldest natural lake in the world, and the third largest lake in Egypt. It is considered an interior lake that is not related to any sea or and rivers.
At the edge of the Oasis, there are many ruined temples at Karanis, the ancient city which was the old capital. Complete the tour by visiting the Fayoum Kom Oshim Museum. Then continue on to Wadi El-Rayan, one of the best natural oases in Egypt. After taking in the beauty and landscape, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
Pick up from your hotel at 8:30 am meet your guide and transfer to Fayoum. Fayoum is a peaceful fertile oasis located 95 Km south west Cairo. Fayoum cannot be considered a true oasis because it depends on the Nile instead of underground springs or wells. However, it is located in a depression that has its own wells, allowing the water to reach the surface from the underground reservoir. Fayoum is renowned for its year-round warm climate and two natural lakes that explains the high fertility of the land which makes it ideal for farming and harvesting. Birdlife abounds around Lake Qaroun bringing about hunters to the area. Fayoum has been traditional hunting ground since pharaonic times when Crocodilopolis, centre of the cult of Sobek, was the capital of the region.
Key Attractions: Lake Qaroun:
Qaroun means “Lake of the Horn” it is a favorite beach resort. In winter, it is quite rough and teeming with ducks and geese, which brings the hunters to lakeside hotels. and it is possible to negotiate a price to get a row boat to the Golden Horn Island or to the north shore.
Many artifacts found within the Fayoum region are housed in the Karanis Museum. Displays include delicate glassware and pottery, females heads (as found in Alexandria) which are thought to have been used to model hairstyles, and a Fayoum portrait. Many of the mummies found in this area had portrait of the deceased painted on them. The museum is well laid out, and has recently been renovated. ( The Museum May be closed during national holidays)
Waterfalls at Wadi al-Rayan:
40km towards Bahariyya oasis, Wadi al Rayan is a place of outstanding natural beauty where two lakes of different attitudes meet making water falls with beautiful natural sceneries also suitable for swimming and picnics.

Reservation of the tour requires payment of approx 25% of tour cost upon confirmation this can be done online or with bank wire transfer. The remainder of tour cost should be settled upon arrival to Egypt either in cash or by credit card. During peak periods 50% of tour cost should be paid upon confirmation.
