Day trip to Dendara and Abydos Temples from Luxor

Abydos  lies 160 km to the north of Luxor west of the Nile. In the Middle Kingdom Abydos was considered the burial place of God Osiris. That's why it was an important place of pilgrimage often mentioned in tomb inscriptions. Today the site is dominated by the New Kingdom temples of Seti I and Rameses II.A day's sightseeing to Abydos, the ancient Egyptian believed of god (Lord of the underworld) to be buried there. The paintings of the Gods and Pharaohs on the walls of the Osiris Temple at Abydos are among the most beautifully preserved in Egypt. Then continue to Dandara to visit the Temple of Hathor, goddess of love and joy. Dendera is home of the Temple of the Goddess Hathor. The complex at Dendera marks the location of a very old holy place. An indication of the antiquity of the temple site is given by the astronomical alignment of the main temple to Gamma Draconis.
